Enjoy
an entire day dedicated to the flavor of Tuscany on this one day excursion
into the Chianti countryside. You will be picked up at your hotel and driven
to the heart of Chianti where you will find a beautiful village surrounded
by vineyards and olive groves.
Here at the local restaurant you will be treated to a hands on cooking
lesson featuring classic Tuscan cuisine. The chef will accompany you as you
discover the ingredients, the tastes, the smells and the history of Chianti
and her people. The menu will be chosen according to the season and will be
based on either soup or homemade pasta (Tuscan tomato soup with bread or
ravioli).
As a second dish you will prepare a meat based dish and for dessert either
the Tuscan biscotti known as cantucci or a local cake. And that’s not all!
Before you taste your own creation, the sommelier will introduce you to the
world of wine and olive oil. You will taste the best combinations of food
and wine and also be able to try different olive oils. In the afternoon you
will head up to the famous hill town of San Gimignano.
Known as the “city of towers” for her seventeen ancient towers that
dominate the skyline, San Gimignano has been delighting travellers since
medieval times. Here you will have time to stroll the narrow streets, admire
the astonishing views and sip some Italian coffee in one of the small
characteristic piazzas before heading back to Florence.
