Take a day to travel into the “Green Heart of Italy”. Umbria offers lush
surroundings, friendly people and breath taking countryside. Often
overlooked as people head for Tuscany, Umbria tends to be less crowded and
more easy going. The three towns on this itinerary offer a look at the less
seen Italy.
Perugia, a sleepy University town, is not only rich in history but also
boasts chocolate and jazz festivals. Here you will have time to admire the
views of the Umbrian countryside, visit it’s historic monuments and pick up
a few of their famous “Baci”, chocolate goodies with romantic messages
inside.
Deruta, a small ancient village is best known for it’s incredible ceramics.
Handed down from generation to generation, the tradition of ceramic
creations lives on today. You can visit a ceramics factory to see the
masters at work and it’s a great place for unique souvenirs and gifts.
Torgiano is famous locally for it’s Wine and Olive Oil Museum. Umbria is
home to many fine wines and award winning olive oils. Enjoy a visit to the
museum, lunch on your own and a stroll around this fascinating town.
