Relax
among the rolling hills covered by endless vineyards as we take you on a day
long adventure to discover one of the most extraordinary wines in the world.
You will visit a splendid castle, where in 1485 Giovanni da Verrazzano, who
is credited with the discovery of the New York bay, was born. It is for this
discovery that the famous suspension bridge was named.
As you take a guided tour of the grounds you will find lovely gardens as
well as free range wild boar. The visit included a tour of the magnificent
cellars wine tasting and lunch featuring products produced on the estate.
You will taste a selection of 5 wines (Verrazzano Rosso, IGT, Chianti
Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Supertuscan and Vino Santo)
with a combination of gastronomical specialties: prosciutto, salame,
finocchiona (fennel seed salami), soprassata (head cheese), fettunta (garlic
bread with extra virgin olive oil), salamino di cinghiale (wild boar
salami), a daily special with salad and beans, pecorino (sheep cheese),
parmigiano with balsamic vinegar, and almond cookies.
After this amazing Tuscan feast you will visit the picturesque villages of
Monteriggioni, a small medieval town that is still enclosed in it’s
fortified walls preserving the atmosphere of ancient Tuscany and San
Gimignano. Also known as the “Manhattan of Tuscany” for it’s 17 soaring
medieval towers, in San Gimignano you can soak up the ancient atmosphere,
enjoy small local shops, and marvel at the spectacular views. Castles,
wine, villages, views and fantastic Tuscan food await you.
