DAY 1
•
SIENA
Private
transfer from Florence to Siena and check in at your hotel. This evening you
will have time to relax and explore this incredible medieval town.
Take a
step back in time as you breathe in the magical atmosphere that surrounds
you. This is not the place for modern day worries and stress! Wander the
streets and you will find a wide array of restaurants to choose from for
dinner. (We will provide suggestions).
DAY 2
• SIENA - CHIANTI AREA
After
breakfast you will depart from your hotel on a guided tour of Siena, her
treasures, history, and traditions. You will visit Piazza del Campo, the
magnificent Duomo, and other historic treasures spread throughout the city.
You will follow the winding streets with their many small piazzas, enjoying
the play of sounds and colors unique to Siena.
Lunch will be in a local enoteca close to Piazza del Campo where you will taste typical Tuscan
products and the famous DOCG Tuscan wines.
In the afternoon you will take a
short trip into the Chianti region where you will visit the Brolio Castle, a
fortress with soaring towers overlooking an immense vineyard that produces
very high quality Chianti wine. Take a stroll in the lovely English garden,
visit the neo-gothic family chapel and taste the original Chianti Classico.
You will then return to your hotel where you will have the evening free.

DAY 3
•
SIENA (Cooking Class) - SAN GIMIGNANO - MONTERIGGIONI
After
breakfast you will enjoy your fist hands on cooking lesson with Elisabetta
who will reveal to you some secrets of Tuscan cuisine. Remember, chefs are
protective of their recipes so keep your eyes and ears open! Lunch will be
the plates you have prepared during your lesson and will be accompanied by
wines selected by Elisabetta. After your lesson you will head to San
Gimignano, the Manhattan of Tuscany, with her soaring towers that are a
testimony to her glorious and fascinating past that you can still discover
today. Here it will be possible to taste the famous Vernaccia, a fine white
wine produced in this area. Before your return to Siena you will stop off at
the fortified village of Monteriggioni, a testimony to the ancient battles
between Siena and Florence. Dinner will be on your own in Siena.

DAY 4
•
SIENA (Cooking Class)
Today you
will take your second cooking class with Elisabetta to discover more
tantalizing dishes and how to create them at home. In the afternoon you are
free to relax and explore the city on your own.

DAY 5
•
MONTALCINO - BAGNO VIGNONI - MONTE OLIVETO ABBEY
This day is
dedicated to the discovery of the southern region of the province of Siena,
it’s beauty and delicacies.
First, Montalcino and her fabulous wine “Brunello”.
Visit local cellars for wine tasting and for lunch you will be welcomed to
the majestic fortress overlooking the surrounding country side where you
will taste the best the area has to offer.
After lunch you will head to Bagno Vignoni, an ancient village with thermal hot springs used by the
Etruscans and Romans. The water that runs from the main pool (in the middle
of the village) has a constant temperature year round and when the winter
months are chilly a steamy mist is produced that offers a spectacular sight
especially late in the evening.
On the way back to Siena you will make a
small detour that takes you through the Val d’Asso and up to the Monte
Oliveto Maggiore abbey. This abbey is a treasure trove of precious artwork
surrounded by silent forests and peaceful hills.
You will have
dinner on your own after you arrive in Siena.

DAY 6
•
CORTONA - PIENZA -MONTEPULCIANO
After
breakfast you will be off to discover two of the most famous movie sets in
recent years. “Under the Tuscan Sun” and “The English Patient” await you in
the Tuscan countryside. You will discover Cortona and Pienza, the two
famous settings along with Montepulciano, land of Vino Nobile.
You will be
served a delicious lunch at a local enoteca in Cortona and in Montepulciano
visit an extraordinary underground cellar that hosts and Etruscan tomb for
wine tasting. After this you will visit the Renaissance village of Pienza
who owes it’s name to Pope Pius II.
Today Pienza’s
fame arises not only from the fact that during the Renaissance it was known
as the “Ideal City” or the “City of Dreams”, but also for it’s production of
Pecorino cheese (sheep’s milk cheese).
It can have a
slightly spicy taste and is perfect accompanied by pears, honey or jam. Back
in Siena you will have time to relax before your farewell dinner in a lovely
restaurant close to your hotel.

After
breakfast you will say goodbye and continue on your journeys.
